EGHI's CHAMPS Network
Works to Save Children's Lives

Losing a child is a parent's worst nightmare. In some parts of the developing world, this nightmare is all too common.  Approximately one in every ten children born in Sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia will not celebrate their fifth birthday. This number increases to one in every six children in some areas. That is a striking contrast to the US, where that mortality rate is one in every 160 children. This statistic illustrates the glaring health disparities between high- and low-income countries.  This inequity paved the way for the Emory Global Health Institute to establish the Child Health and Mortality Prevention Surveillance (CHAMPS) Network.

Also, check out the interview below with Dr. Breiman about his new role and the importance of CHAMPS' work in reducing child mortality.

EGHI Faculty Fellows Spotlight
Dr. Dawn Comeau
Through the Emory Global Health Institute's (EGHI) Faculty Fellows Program, EGHI provides a forum for faculty members from across Emory University's campus to meet and discuss global health issues important to them. These meetings engage faculty in existing EGHI activities and provide an opportunity for networking, which fosters collaborative research.

We recently sat down with one of our EGHI Faculty Fellows, Dr. Dawn Comeau, to discuss her global health work.
